Fridges

• Empty it the day before, and defrost the freezer if it builds up ice.
• Dry it out and tape the doors shut so they can't swing open.
• We move fridges upright and strap them in. Once it's in place, check your manual before plugging it in. Many recommend letting a fridge stand for a while after a move.

Washing machines and dryers

• Turn off the taps and disconnect the hoses. Drain as much water as you can.
• If you still have the transit bolts for a front loader, fit them. If not, tell us and we'll take extra care.
• Dryers on wall brackets need taking down before we arrive, or let us know so we can allow time.

What a Nambour move costs

We work by the hour, with the hours worked out before you book. Give us your item list, both addresses and a description of the access, and we estimate the loading, the drive and the unloading. That's the price you plan around.

Queenslanders and front stairs

A classic highset Queenslander has a flight of stairs between the front door and the ground, and sometimes a second set out the back. Stairs slow every carry, and a fridge or a solid dresser on a narrow staircase needs two people. Tell us how many steps there are, whether there's a back entry at ground level, and how close the truck can get. That's what keeps the estimate accurate.

Acreage and hinterland access

For properties out of town, a few details make a big difference to the day:

• Driveway surface and slope. A long gravel driveway is fine for the ute. Tell us if it's steep, narrow or soft after rain.
• Where the furniture is. Sheds, granny flats and studios add carrying distance. Include them in your list.
• Gates and turning room. If the truck can't turn around at the house, we'll plan where to park.

Moving from Nambour down to the coast

Buderim, Maroochydore and Palmview are the most common places Nambour customers move to. Each is a straightforward run down from the hinterland, and the drive is part of the estimate before you book, so a longer trip never turns into a surprise on the invoice. Palmview moves often end in a newer home, which usually means easy access at the unloading end. Buderim can be the opposite, with steep driveways on the mountain, so tell us about both ends.

Units and townhouses in town

Closer to the centre of Nambour there are units and townhouse complexes where parking and shared driveways are the main thing to plan for. Let us know if there's a visitor bay, a garage we can back up to, or a body corporate rule about moving times.
