Office moves for small Sunshine Coast businesses

Not every business move needs a corporate relocation company. If you're a small office moving down the street, a shop shifting to a bigger tenancy, or a team taking on a second room, the job is mostly desks, chairs, filing cabinets, shelving and boxes. That's furniture moving, and it's what we do every day across the Sunshine Coast.

We're a local business based in Coolum Beach, working the Coast since 2023 with two utes and an Isuzu truck. We've done more than 6,300 jobs across the Coast since January 2024, so carrying heavy, awkward furniture through doorways, lifts and car parks is familiar work.

What office moves cost

Office moves are priced by the hour, the same as our furniture moves. Before we book, we estimate the loading time, the drive and the unloading time from your item list and the access at both ends.

If the job runs over the estimate, extra time is billed in 15-minute blocks. You pay on completion, and there are no fuel or booking fees. See all our rates on the prices page.

One removalist or two?

A couple of chairs and a small desk, with someone from your team helping at each end, can be a one-removalist job at $104 an hour. Most office moves are better with two removalists at $207 an hour: desks are heavy, filing cabinets are awkward, and two people carrying is faster than one person and a helper who also has work to do. For a bigger fit-out we bring the Isuzu truck so everything goes in fewer trips. Tell us what's moving and we'll recommend the setup that gives you the lowest total.

Plan it so it runs to the estimate

Most of the time on an office move goes into carrying, so anything that shortens the carry saves you money.

• Empty the filing cabinets. Full cabinets are very heavy and drawers can slide open. Box the files and lock or tape the drawers.
• Pack and label everything. Mark each box and each desk with the room or desk it's going to.
• Disconnect the tech. Have computers, screens and phones unplugged and packed by your own team or IT provider before we arrive.
• Check the building. Find out about loading zones, lift bookings and parking at both addresses, and tell us when you book.
• Take desks apart if you can. Or tell us which ones need dismantling, so we can allow the time.

What changes the estimate

The things that move an office estimate are the same ones that move any furniture job, just with more of them:

• How many workstations and whether the desks come apart
• Floors and lifts at both ends, and whether a lift needs booking
• The carry from the door to the vehicle, and where we can park
• The drive between the two addresses

When we can do it

We book office moves on weekdays, and on Saturdays with our truck crew on the Sunshine Coast at weekday prices x1.5. If you need the move done outside normal business hours, ask when you book. We can't promise after-hours work, but we'll tell you straight away what's possible. Weekday slots are often available within a few days, which helps when a lease date sneaks up.

Old office furniture to go?

Moving is a good time to get rid of broken chairs, old desks and dead appliances, rather than paying to carry them into the new space. Anything not making the trip can go to the tip as rubbish removal, priced by the ute load plus the tip fee at cost.
