Mattresses are one of the most common things we take

Beds and mattresses turn up on our bookings more than almost anything else. Across more than 6,300 jobs on the Sunshine Coast since January 2024, they sit at the top of the list of items we move and remove, ahead of dining tables, fridges and couches. One tired queen mattress, a set of bunk mattresses from the kids' room, or every bed in a house you're selling: it's work our crews do every week.

We carry the mattress out of the bedroom, down any stairs and onto the ute, then take it to the nearest transfer station. You don't have to drag it to the kerb, squeeze it into your own car, or wait weeks for a council pickup.

What mattress removal costs

You pay a service fee for the crew and the ute, plus the tip fee at cost. We don't put a markup on the tip fee. Whatever the transfer station charges for your load on the day is what you pay for that part, and it's shown separately.

Every price above is plus the tip fee at cost, inc GST. You pay once the job's done, and there are no fuel or booking fees. On Saturdays our truck crew works the Sunshine Coast at weekday prices x1.5, and we don't do rubbish removal on Sundays. One mattress or several?

For a single mattress, the single item price is usually the cheapest way to do it. Once you have two or three mattresses, or a mattress plus its base and a frame, a ute load normally works out better value.

The ute load price depends on where the items are. If you stack everything in one spot, like the garage, the carport or just inside the front door, it's the $139 pile price. If the beds are still in bedrooms across the house, or upstairs, it's the $189 collected price, because the crew spends longer carrying.

A ute load doesn't have to be all bedding. Put the old bedside tables, a broken chair or the bags from a spare room clean-out in with it, and it all goes on the same trip for the same service fee. If it's more than one ute can carry, see our rubbish removal rates for two loads.

Bed bases, ensembles and frames

Ensemble bases, slat bases, timber and metal bed frames, bunk beds and bedheads go the same way as the mattress. A frame that needs taking apart takes a little longer, so mention it when you book. Adjustable bases with a motor are heavy, and a king ensemble base is awkward on stairs, so for those we'll usually suggest two people.

Help us get it done quickly

• Tell us the size. Single, double, queen or king, and whether there's a base or frame too.
• Tell us where it is. Ground floor bedroom, upstairs, or already in the garage.
• Mention stairs and parking. A long carry or a unit block with no parking adds time.
• Strip the bed. Sheets, protectors and pillows off, so the crew can lift it straight out.

Moving out, selling up or replacing the bed

Most mattress jobs come from one of three moments. A new bed has arrived and the old one is leaning against the hallway wall. A rental is ending and the spare room mattress can't stay. Or a house is being sold or cleared, and every bed in it needs to go. Any of those can be a single item booking, or one ute load if there's more than one bed. If you're moving house with us anyway, it can go to the tip on the same day as the move.

Where your mattress goes

We take each load to the transfer station closest to the job. On the Sunshine Coast that's usually the Buderim Transfer Station on Syd Lingard Drive, the Caloundra Transfer Station on Pierce Avenue, the Nambour Transfer Station on Cooney Road, the Noosa Transfer Station on Eumundi Noosa Road at Doonan, or the Beerwah Resource Recovery Centre on Roberts Road. For Brisbane north jobs around North Lakes we use Dakabin, Caboolture or Redcliffe.

Each facility sets its own charges for mattresses and they change from time to time, so we don't publish a fixed figure. We pass on exactly what the tip charges.

Moving a bed rather than binning it?

If the mattress is fine and just needs to get somewhere else, like a Marketplace bed you've bought or a spare mattress going to family, that's a single item pickup from $109, or see furniture removals.
