Coolum Beach is home for Pickup Pals. Our depot is here, so when you book a Coolum move you're booking a crew whose day starts in the same suburb. We have done more than 250 jobs in Coolum Beach since January 2024, more than 110 of them furniture and house moves and the rest rubbish runs.

That history covers the whole mix of Coolum housing: holiday units along the beachfront, older beach houses in the streets behind the shops, homes up around Mount Coolum and Yaroomba, and the newer estates of Peregian Springs a few minutes north. We also move a lot of people who are leaving Coolum for somewhere else on the Coast, and a lot who are arriving.

Where Coolum moves go

The most common destination for our Coolum Beach moves is Maroochydore. After that comes moves within Coolum Beach itself, then Peregian Springs, Buderim and Marcoola. So the typical Coolum job is either a short shift to a different street, a run up to the new estates in Peregian Springs, or a trip down the coast road to Maroochydore or up the hill to Buderim.

For the longer runs, the drive is part of the estimate, worked out before you book. For the short local ones, most of what you pay for is the loading and unloading, which is exactly what hourly pricing is for.

Heading to Peregian Springs or Marcoola

Peregian Springs and Marcoola are both short drives from Coolum, which makes these some of the quickest moves we do. On a move this short, the size of the crew matters more than the distance. If most of your load is boxes, a bed and a few light pieces, one removalist and a ute can keep the cost right down. If there's a fridge, a washing machine and a full lounge, two removalists will usually finish in so much less time that the total ends up similar, with far less lifting for you.

We price by the hour so a small job stays small. You send us the item list and the access at both ends, we estimate the loading, the drive and the unloading, and that is your quote before anything is booked.

Extra time past the estimate is billed in 15-minute blocks. You pay once the job is finished, and there's nothing added for fuel or booking. Saturday moves are available with our truck crew at 1.5 times the weekday rate. All our rates are on the prices page.

Cabinets, and lots of them

Coolum bookings have one quirk in our records: cabinets turn up more often here than in most suburbs. Whether it's a bedside unit, a TV cabinet or a buffet with glass doors, they're easy to move well and easy to move badly, so a little preparation goes a long way:

• Empty the drawers and shelves. A full cabinet is heavier, and contents shift and break in transit.
• Take out loose glass shelves and wrap them separately in a towel or blanket.
• Tape or tie doors shut so they can't swing open while we carry.
• Tell us about anything tall or very heavy. A solid timber buffet usually needs two removalists, and that changes the price.

Beyond cabinets, Coolum moves look like the rest of the Coast: beds and mattresses at the top of the list, then dining tables and chairs, fridges, washing machines and dryers, couches, TVs and boxes.

Holiday units and short-stay moves

Plenty of Coolum moves start or finish in a beachfront unit block. If your building has a lift, find out whether it can be booked and where a vehicle can stop for loading. If it's a walk-up, tell us the floor. Holiday areas can also be busy for parking in school holidays, so if your move falls in a holiday week, it's worth mentioning when you book. None of this costs extra in itself, but it all affects how long the job takes.

Moving day tips for Coolum homes

Older beach houses often have a narrow side path, a high front step or stairs up from the carport. Newer homes in the estates are usually easier, but can have tight corners between rooms. A quick note about either when you book means the right crew turns up and the estimate holds.

Single items around Coolum

Not every job is a full move. A lot of our Coolum work is one or two pieces: a couch from a local seller, a new bed from the shops, a fridge going to a holiday unit. Clearing out before you go

If you're moving out of Coolum, we can take the things you don't want on the same trip. We drop them at a council transfer station, such as Nambour on Cooney Road or Buderim on Syd Lingard Drive, whichever suits the route.
